I have posted a question previously. I know what a C/O position is and what is expected in the day to day challenges and understand it isnt meant for everyone and I am perfect for this position. My question was more requesting info for my upcoming interview and my physical test of what to expect. Not to tell me what a correction officer is.
Correction officer?
The interview will see what kind of person you are. Example are you a team player, honest, tactful, extrovert any traits related to the position.
Physical agility test your endurance with a timed run, body strength push ups-sit ups. There are a few other barriers (Psych Eval- Poly) before you finally get to your academy.
Reply:For a corrections officer it varies by agency. I work in a county jail and the interview consisted of about 5 questions. The physical part was just a physical done by a physician and I was expected to pass a drug screen. I also took some training at a nearby prison. But I know of other counties that require you to pass thru the police academy, while the prison in my state gives you 12 weeks of class work before putting you on shift. So I think the best thing for you to do is contact the agency you want to work for and ask them what they require. Good luck, it's a great career if you have the right mindset for it.
