HELP!! Online job application for first corporate job?

I am filling out an application for a job with a global company, and have an interview scheduled for next week. I spoke to the recruiter on two occasions where desired compensation was brought up. She estimated that the pay would be in the low 40s I previously worked for a small company and was making $48,000 plus $1000 bonus quarterly (when my boss was feeling generous). She mentioned that usually, one of the requirements for the position would be at least one year experience doing a very similar thing. I think she was lowballing me, but whatever....





I know I can contribute way more to this position than someone with one year experience doing it, but I am saving that discussion for the interview. The pay she described is fine for me as a starting point, really, b/c of the benefits and annual bonus.





Should I put "negligible" on the application or an actual amount?





My question is, should I put "negligible" on the application?

i think you better look up negligble in the dictionary


that word will get you tossed out of the running quicker than you can say what happened.


yes you can put in the word you think you are using. under the circumstances, it would be a wise move.


typically low ball offers occur because a a large volume of respondants.
Reply:You may want to consider putting a range on the application.





This shows that you are willing to negotiate and you are also giving the employer more to work with instead of one.





It may be also a good idea to research and find out that you are worth as well.





This way you know a head of time in case they are offering something too low based on statistics for a position with your amount of education or experience.

Reply:Agree strongly with the previous respondants!! Be very careful about using words you think you know. Be yourself. Some positions have no flexability in salary due to budget constraints, but that is usually because the job can be filled fairly easily.





Go with your strengths, don't be shy about asking for what you are worth.....but don't get greedy and price yourself out of the job either!!
Reply:Don't you mean negotiable not negligible? Be sure your application is "error free?"
Reply:NO. Never use "negligible" ... use "negotiable" and discuss your previous jobs and your personal strengths during the interview.
Reply:Always state that salary is open for discussion for most employers vary salary once well into the interview ..... afterall, never really know what has crossed their paths until see you face to face to see how you handle yourself and most folks generally share more information on their individual experience during an interview - options should always be open for never know where they can lead!
